Hi all. I’m writing from a sunny Inverness with a race report from the Loch Ness Marathon Festival and Berlin Marathon. Although rain was forecast, conditions for both the Loch Ness 10k and full marathon were near perfect for this most scenic of routes. Over the shorter distance, Dawn Grant led the Harriers home in an excellent 45 minutes and 20 seconds with President Gerry Moss not far behind around 48 mins. Anne Purves on this her favourite of courses scampered home in 60.25, just passing Rosi Capper on her return from injury in the final riverside stretch. Over the full marathon distance, Dave Nightingale who has been running like a man possessed finished in an impressive 3 hours 11 mins, while Fiona Shepherd recorded a well deserved personal best of 3. 35 despite a painful hip injury. Chris Renton was not far behind her in a spritely 3.36. Not to be outdone in Berlin, the mens marathon record was being broken alongside excellent runs from Nicola Porterfield in 3.32 and Anne Weir in 3.50. Well done to all.
