Heineken Race to the Castle ultra
Massive congratulations to Marcus D’Agrosa who became the King of the Castle last weekend, taking victory in the Heineken Race to the Castle ultra. Completing a 100 KM (yes, 100 KM!!) route along St Oswalds Way from Kirkharle to finish at Bamburgh Castle in a phenomenal time of 9:25:05. Amazing.
3000m on the track in Monkton Stadium
Also in action through this week were Darrell Hastie and Julie Johnstone, competing over 3000m on the track in Monkton Stadium, Tyne and Wear.
I can’t find official results but Darrell ran through in 8:30 mins which is an outstanding pace, and judging by Power of 10 obliterates his PB by about 18 seconds. I understand Julie also had a great race, crossing in 11:47.Great work folks!
Great Lakes fell race
James Purves was in action in the Great Lakes fell race. This one sounds like a monster! 13 miles with 2130m of climbing and taking in the 2 highest peaks in the Lakes, Scafell Pike and Scafell. Not for the faint hearted. James reports some navigation difficulties but still crossed the line in 5h 21m. What a warrior!
